詞匯是英語(yǔ)教與學(xué)的基礎(chǔ)，考試中沒有給出明確的考查詞匯表，這就給命題人提供了廣闊的活動(dòng)空間，給他們減少了很多限制，但給考生增加了一定難度。英語(yǔ)中國(guó)的一詞多意和熟詞僻義現(xiàn)象是普遍存在的。今天，筆者跟大家分享一些考試中?？嫉氖煸~僻義，并給出典型例句幫您更好地理解和掌握。

1. handsome

熟義：adj. 英俊的，端莊的，美觀的

僻義：adj.大方的，慷慨的

I hope I will get a handsome present at my birthday.

2. heavy

熟義：adj. 重的

僻義：

My father is a heavy smoker. adj. 超出一般規(guī)模、數(shù)量、力量的

The traffic today is especially heavy. adj. 交通擁擠的

3. height

熟義：n. 高度，身高

僻義：n. 頂點(diǎn),極度

In the height of the summer many people choose to visit the seaside.

4. hold on

熟義：別掛斷;等一等

僻義：繼續(xù)堅(jiān)持做(難做之事)

They didn’t know if they would be able to hold on until help arrived.他們不知道能否堅(jiān)持到援軍到達(dá)之時(shí)。

5. hit

熟義：v. 擊中，打擊

僻義：n. 成功，紅極一時(shí)的人或事

The film Hero is quite a hit of this year.

6. hot

熟義：adj. 炎熱的

僻義：adj. 最新的

We’re waiting for the hot news on the election results.

熟義：n. 工業(yè);產(chǎn)業(yè)

僻義：n. 努力;勤勉

His success was due to industry. 他的成功源自于他的努力。

2. intelligence

熟義：n. 智力，腦力

僻義：n. 情報(bào),信息(尤其指有軍事價(jià)值的)
